Well, Chemo Round #4, Infusion #1 is done. It took quite a bit longer than was expected. The pharmacy made two mistakes that added about 2 hours to the process. I slept almost the whole time, feeling like I was trying to come out from under anesthetic the whole time. Finally, they finished up, took the needle out of the port and we were good to go!
A reminder- this was one drug I had and one I haven’t. I THINK I got the repeated drug first and the new drug second, but again I slept through most of it, so I COULD be wrong! I feel pretty good coming home because the Benedryl has worn off and the steroids have kicked in!
BP was GREAT, pulse ox very good and blood a bit high in some places buy within limits they feel they (I) can live with. Next week’s tox screen with tell them how I am handling the chemo. I appreciate how easy it is to stay in the loop with them.
We’ll see how these next few weeks go. If I am able to tolerate it, the plan would be that this Round wouldn’t’ end until March-3 weeks on and 1 week off for 16 weeks. If I’m still on it as we near the end of this Round, we will assess whether I can take #5 and #6 or we simply put a pin in it earlier and give my body a chance to rest.
Please pray for this Round. As we have no other options left besides chemo, and the fact that we have blown through the bulk of potential chemo treatments, it’s pretty imperative that we find the right “cocktail” for me. And yet, it amazing to consider that, 18 months in, I still here and having conversations about next March!
